Imagining our Future Woodlands – Forum & Discussion event
Friday 24th February @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
What if a whole range of subject matter experts and enthusiasts gathered in one room to consider Galloway’s future Woodlands from every angle? The ‘Imagining our Future Woodlands’ event on 24th of February in Dalry Town Hall does exactly that, with a range of presentations from subject matter experts and sessions that will allow us to consider what our future woodlands could look like.
Discussions on the day will be helped by a variety of presentations, including perspectives from the farming and forestry sectors, landscape and community interests, and representations from the fisheries and climate change fields. There will be plenty of time for discussion and interaction. The focus throughout the day will be on how to positively balance the needs of the differing land use interests in redesigning existing forests and woodlands and planning new ones, seeking to identify practical recommendations.
The event is being organised in partnership between the Galloway Glens Scheme and the Watson Bird Project. Roger Crofts from the Watson Bird project said:
“Please join us in Dalry Town Hall on Friday 24 February to share your views and opinions as we imagine our future woodlands. We should celebrate where there is consensus at present, and we should think towards an even better future that meets the needs of all of the communities of interest.
Your views and perspectives count so please join us. We gather at 1000 and will conclude by 1500 with refreshments and lunch included. There is no attendance fee thanks to the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership. McNabb Laurie will facilitate the day’s proceedings, and I will sum up our deliberations and suggestions.”
The event is on 24th February in Dalry Town Hall. It starts at 10am, running to approx. 3pm. Light lunch will be provided. For more information on the speakers appearing on the day and to book your free ticket, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/imagining-our-future-woodlands-tickets-496305171127.
The event is being facilitated on the day by Galloway Glens Team Leader, McNabb Laurie. McNabb said:
“I’m really looking forward to this event. We can only really discuss or get our heads round our future woodland landscape when we consider them from all angles. Click on the booking link to see the distinguished selection of speakers who will be helping us cast our minds into the future about what our woodlands could look like.”
The event forms part of the Fantastic Forest Festival. For more info on the festival and other events, click here: https://gallowayglens.org/plans-revealed-for-galloways-fantastic-forest-festival/.
